Does The Eminence in Shadow Satirize Power Fantasies Instead of Celebrating Them?

Like finding a hidden extra boss in a game when you thought you beat it, realizing how deep The Eminence in Shadow actually digs into power fantasies blew my mind. Seeing Cid act like hes just messing around while everyone else takes his “play” super seriously is wild—he just drops into a fight like it’s cosplay and somehow wins everything. At the same time, watching Beta’s over the top writing obsession turn into something epic adds such a funny twist next to Cid’s antics. This almost feels like the show’s secretly calling out classic isekai wish fulfillment tropes while pretending to indulge them. Maybe all this chaos is Shade Garden’s way of pushing Cid to face a reality check? I feel like we’re riding a rollercoaster that keeps adding tracks. Who else thinks theres more going on under the hood, or has a favorite ridiculous scene?

Honestly, the whole “everything is according to keikaku” vibe Cid has gets me every time. It’s like he’s trolling the whole isekai genre but somehow pulls off the wildest stunts by accident. Beta’s fanfic rants are peak comedy. I swear, the show’s totally in on the joke—it’s hilarious.
